Introduction
Welcome back to our Tote World Pool Guide, where today we shift focus to Sandown’s blockbuster card featuring the 2025 Coral-Eclipse. On the day, the deeper Tote World Pool markets will apply to the Coral-Eclipse only, meaning greater liquidity with global reach. Our analysis covers all seven races on this premier midsummer showcase, headlined by the historic Group 1 feature at 15:35. With world-class talent set to clash and unprecedented liquidity in the Tote World Pool, the day offers exceptional opportunities for value-seeking punters.
Before we dive in, let’s revisit our Irish Derby Day triumphs at the Curragh last week. Lambourn silenced doubters with a gritty display to complete the Derby double, validating our data that identified him as Ballydoyle’s latest top-class colt – returning as the £1.62 favourite. Skukuza (£3.75) provided a further boost under Ryan Moore’s masterful ride, but the real jewel? The data successfully identified both Keke and The Highway Rat in a devilishly competitive handicap, and we were thrilled to hear from those of you who followed and landed the Swinger at £17.75!
For those new to EquiAnalytix: We transform decades of racing data through cutting-edge machine learning to pinpoint market mispricings. Our bespoke EquiAnalytix Speed Ratings are at the core of our offering, driving the metrics you see within our Form, Trainer & Breeding analysis. How have they performed? Our website shows that from Cheltenham to Aintree to the Curragh, the data has consistently found value in these deep markets. The secret? No jargon, no clutter – just actionable insights for racing enthusiasts.
Race 1: 13:50 Sandown Coral Charge (Group 3) (Registered As The Sprint Stakes)
We get underway with the Coral Charge, a Group 3 contest over Sandown’s famous 5f track, where we’ll no doubt see plenty of hard-luck stories!
Race Analysis
For those unfamiliar with Sandown’s intricacies, over sprint trips horses can often get stuck on the inside rail – at which point your race is over. It’s a tough 5f to navigate, with plenty of early pace evident in our Dashboard’s Pace Map. This map shows several front-runners, including the Eve Johnson Houghton-trained CHANGE SINGS. This horse is a huge price but warrants interest given the data. ADRESTIA finished three-quarters of a length ahead of him last time at Windsor, but has since landed a competitive handicap at Royal Ascot last month – a welcome winner for our blog readers! That day she showed an immense turn of foot to settle the race, and this speedy track looks certain to suit. At Ascot, this filly earned a rating of 144 that leads our forward-looking Total Performance Ratings, bolstered by her standout sprint pedigree as a daughter of Havana Gray. She should be prominent here and is proving market popular, but don’t be surprised if old opponent CHANGE SINGS outruns his odds.
This Group 3 contest presents an interesting dynamic – the selection has ground to make up on official ratings against the likes of KERDOS, WEST ACRE and Irish challenger SHE’S QUALITY. But this 3yo remains unexposed at this level, and her weight allowance may prove decisive.

Race 2: 14:25 Sandown Coral Challenge (Handicap)
Our first handicap of the afternoon sees a field 13 head to post over the mile trip.
Race Analysis
This contests sees a very competitive field go head-to-head where several boast very similar form coming into the race. At the time of writing, TREASURE TIME is proving very popular in the market and it’s not that difficult to see why. William Haggas’ stable have been operating at a very high level so far this summer, with an average EquiAnalytix Speed Rating of 100 across all his runners in the last month. And this son of Time Test has been a model of consistency with his last 3 ratings of 112, 121 and 121, albeit all recorded at the back end of last season. Given market support he is obviously expected to be ready despite the 294 day break, but from a data perspective there is a horse that appeals far more.
That horse is of course CLASSIC ENCOUNTER for the George Boughey and Billy Loughnane combination. This 4yo has taken a big step forward this season, having won on reappearance in April at Redcar, and again most recently at York 3 weeks ago. That has seen the horse rise from a mark of 77 to today’s 87, but his ratings of 162, 114, 135 and 154 across those recent runs suggest there is more to come. A horse operating at this high level on the data suggests pattern company is looming and if he were to win well on the day that would look even more likely. A glance at this horse’s breeding data will remind you that this son of Sharmardal is out of Zhukova who herself achieved a standout BHA handicap mark of 115.. so the selection certainly has more improvement to come!

Race 3: 15:00 Sandown Coral Distaff (Listed Race) (Fillies)
As anticipation builds for the Eclipse, we first have the Coral Distaff to assess, a Listed race for the fillies over a mile.
Race Analysis
I won’t lie, this race absolutely fascinates me as a contest. You have a group of 9 supremely bred fillies in action and with their pedigrees, all being well I would hope to see several of them make outstanding dams. But before that, some of them look to achieve all-important “Black Type”, in a race which is wide open. Looking at the data presented below, I wouldn’t blame anyone for simply taking the top 4 according to the TPR figures and covering both Exactas and Trifectas. Not only do each of those 4 horses bring in some impressive form ratings, they represent leading sires such as Dubawi, Night Of Thunder and Kingman. Any could improve from their recent runs, but the horse we want to chance here is SUPERMODEL. Our regular readers will be reminded that this horse was a firm selection of ours for Royal Ascot, only for the horse to be withdrawn late on. That day it was a handicap off a mark of 90, whereas this is a wide-open Listed contest so of course brings about a different challenge. But it’s her most recent rating of 178 that I cannot get away from. The figure, plus the manner in which she won that day at Nottingham suggested this daughter of Night Of Thunder could really be in the “anything” bucket. She will of course need to take a big step forward against more streetwise rivals, but the team are in top form and the data rarely misses on these exciting unexposed types. Just keep in mind to cover using those Exotics markets in a race where liquidity will be in abundance.

Race 4: 15:35 Sandown Coral-Eclipse (Group 1)
And with that we arrive at today’s feature contest, the 2025 Coral-Eclipse. A group 1 contest over just shy of 10f, this race brings in key form from Royal Ascot and The Derby!
Race Analysis
Here we must just dive straight in and talk about OMBUDSMAN who was another winner from the data at Royal Ascot last month… but I don’t think any of us expected to him win quite like he did. For a horse to hit so much traffic in-running, and still finish full of running, is a testament to just how much ability he must have. The global rating agencies were in agreement and ranked that one of the best performances we’ve seen this year, and therefore it’s incredibly supportive of our data to see that figure of 184 in the table below. On our ratings, that was an outstanding run, and complemented what was an equally top performance the time before after a break. The Gosden team are in red hot form of late and William Buick steps down off Guineas-winner RULING COURT to maintain his partnership with the selection, and on all figures we have available I expect nothing less than another scintillating performance.
As for the rest? It’s of course a great renewal with a 2,000 Guineas winner, a once favourite for the English Derby and a top opponent from France. Of the 3, I would expect RULING COURT to put in a better showing given the increased trip and if Oisin Murphy can settle him, he can be the biggest danger late on and provide an interesting Godolphin Exacta in the World Pool!

Race 5: 16:12 Sandown Coral Celebrating 50 Year Eclipse Sponsorship Handicap
For Race 5 we step back into handicap company, this time over the 7f trip for those horses rated 90 or lower.
Race Analysis
An interesting contest next where admittedly several of these don’t bring in the sort of form figures that will see them be competitive, which does make it easier to whittle down the list to only a few. It’s notable that DANCE IN THE STORM heads the TPR figures based on a combination of solid form figures of 121, 47 and 119, very good trainer form from the Andrew Balding stable and course one of the best sets of EquiAnalytix Breeding Data in the field. On most days that would be enough, but here the figures of CITY OF POETS are just impossible to ignore. Ratings of 134, 132 and 139 from only 3 runs, 2 culminating in victory, is outstanding. This is a horse with clear ability and whilst an opening mark of 86 will be a proper test of that, the data on offer suggests he will be up to it. With the assistance of Ryan Moore in the saddle, this James Tate trained son of Ghaiyyath can build upon what is already an impressive start to racing!

Race 6: 16:45 Sandown Coral Pipped-At-The-Post And Win Handicap
The penultimate contest of the afternoon sees a strong field of 12 go to post over the 10f trip.
Race Analysis
And whilst many here boast chances, you will have to forgive the case of déjà vu here with the selection YABHER. Trained again by William Haggas, again ridden by Tom Marquand, this horse looks set for a big run on all the data available to us. Last seen 15 days ago, this horse was a gallant second to an improver from the Charlie Johnston stable, yet still managed to deliver an impressive EquiAnalytix Speed Rating of 174. That alone is an outstanding level of form and far outstrips the opposition here. The horse will have to carry plenty of weight with 9st 10lb, but this son of Sea The Stars has a stellar pedigree out of a dam once rated 109 and that only supports the case that a big win is coming.
In an open handicap we must also consider others and clearly a case can be made for horses such as TROY STORY, ANTELOPE & ONE MORE CHROME. But it’s the Gosden trained horse KEBLE SPIRIT who must be considered for those Swinger and Exacta slips. This horse bounced back to form in a big way last time when winning at Yarmouth, and in the process achieved a rating of 143 which without the selection would be the standout piece of form here. They look set to go head-to-head late on and can provide clear value in those Exotics pools.

Race 7: 17:15 Sandown Coral Golden Rewards Shaker Handicap
The afternoon comes to a close with a final handicap to assess, this one over the Eclipse trip of just under 10f.
Race Analysis
With horses rated as high 105 here, this is as close to Pattern company as we can get in a handicap and therefore it’s no surprise to see the race be wide open in the market. The current market leader at the time of writing is BEST ADVENTURE who again represents the red-hot Andrew Balding team. This horse was last seen winning over course and distance 22 days ago, pulling away from his rivals late on to achieve a rating of 129. That figure is the best piece of most recent form on offer, but it’s hardly a standout figure and it came in a race where he carried top weight, whilst today he moves up several grades to carry bottom weight of 8st 2lb – such a light weight that they’ve had to get the services of Joe Fanning in the saddle! He remains the form horse but at the prices and with the data available to us, I would much rather give another chance to ARABIAN LIGHT. This horse was a thorough disappointment at Royal Ascot last month, finishing 2nd last having been sent off 11/1 in the Royal Hunt Cup. His sights are lowered here somewhat, and this field is much weaker, but he will still need to improve massively on that run, and return the ratings of 156 and 133 that we saw leading up to Ascot. If he bounces back to that level, this very well-bred son of Kingman could prove a very big price in the market.
